LA PALABRA GLOBAL DEL DÍA

25/09/2020 – Viernes de la 25ª semana de Tiempo Ordinario.

PRIMERA LECTURA

Cada cosa tiene su momento bajo el cielo.

Lectura del libro del Eclesiastés 3, 1 -11

Todo tiene su momento, y cada cosa su tiempo bajo el cielo:

Tiempo de nacer, tiempo de morir;
tiempo de plantar, tiempo de arrancar;
tiempo de matar, tiempo de sanar;
tiempo de destruir tiempo de construir;
tiempo de llorar, tiempo de reír;
tiempo de hacer duelo, tiempo de bailar;
tiempo de arrojar piedras, tiempo de recogerlas;
tiempo de abrazar, tiempo de desprenderse;
tiempo de buscar, tiempo de perder;
tiempo de guardar, tiempo de arrojar;
tiempo de rasgar, tiempo de coser;
tiempo de callar, tiempo de hablar;
tiempo de amar, tiempo de odiar;

Sal 143, 1a y 2abc. 3-4

R. Bendito el Señor, mi Roca.

Bendito el Señor, mi Roca,
mi bienhechor, mi alcázar,
baluarte donde me pongo a salvo,
mi escudo y mi refugio. R.

Señor, ¿qué es el hombre
para que te fijes en él?
¿Qué los hijos de Adán
para que pienses en ellos?
El hombre es igual que un soplo;
sus días, una sombra que pasa. R.

Aleluya Mc 10, 45
R. Aleluya, aleluya, aleluya.

El Hijo del hombre ha venido a servir
y dar su vida en rescate por muchos. R.

THE GLOBAL WORD OF THE DAY

09/25/2020 – Friday of the 25nd week in Ordinary Time.

A reading from the Book of Ecclesiastes
ECCL 3:1-11

There is an appointed time for everything,
and a time for every thing under the heavens.
A time to be born, and a time to die;
a time to plant, and a time to uproot the plant.
A time to kill, and a time to heal;
a time to tear down, and a time to build.
A time to weep, and a time to laugh;
a time to mourn, and a time to dance.
A time to scatter stones, and a time to gather them;
a time to embrace, and a time to be far from embraces.
A time to seek, and a time to lose;
a time to keep, and a time to cast away.
A time to rend, and a time to sew;
a time to be silent, and a time to speak.
A time to love, and a time to hate;
a time of war, and a time of peace.

What advantage has the worker from his toil?
I have considered the task that God has appointed
for the sons of men to be busied about.
He has made everything appropriate to its time,
and has put the timeless into their hearts,
without man’s ever discovering,
from beginning to end, the work which God has done.

The word of the God.

From the Gospel according to Luke
LK 9:18-22

+

Once when Jesus was praying in solitude,
and the disciples were with him,
he asked them, “Who do the crowds say that I am?”
They said in reply, “John the Baptist; others, Elijah;
still others, ‘One of the ancient prophets has arisen.’”
Then he said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
Peter said in reply, “The Christ of God.”
He rebuked them and directed them not to tell this to anyone.

He said, “The Son of Man must suffer greatly
and be rejected by the elders, the chief priests, and the scribes,
and be killed and on the third day be raised.”

Lord’s word.

WORDS OF THE HOLY FATHER

A Christian is a man or woman who knows how to live in the moment and who knows how to live in time. The moment is what we have in hand right now – but this is not time, this passes. Perhaps we might feel that we are masters of the moment. But it is a trap to believe that we are masters of time. Time is not our own. Time belongs to God. The moment is in our hands and we have the freedom to take it. Even more: We may become masters of the moment, but there is only one Sovereign over time: Jesus Christ. (Santa Marta, 26 November 2013)
